Judge Groves has received numerous awards over her 18 years as a judge. Most recently she has been recognized for her innovations on the Mental Health Docket and ruling RTA fare enforcement practice unconstitutional. She is committed to using the power of the court to improve the lives of the people who come before her and the administration of justice.
In May, 2019, Judge Groves received an award from the Alcohol, Drug Addiction & Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) for the impact she has had on those with mental illness and the agencies that provide the services to those with mental illness.

In recognition of Judge Groves’ services with the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association she was declared the Bar Member of the Day in May 2019.
In May, 2019, Judge Groves received the NAACP Community Leadership Award. The NAACP recognized Judge Groves for her overall influence in the community and administration of justice. Judge Groves has created programs where: over 600 participants have secured their GED’s; hundreds of participants have been empowered with information on the do’s and don’ts when stopped by the police; thousands of suspended drivers received information on opportunity to have reinstatement fees reduced or eliminated by the Ohio BMV; and thousands of families have participated in program to help improve their children’s attendance in school. Judge Groves’ leadership in the court resulted in the elimination of defendants sitting in jail for a warrant on minor misdemeanor complaints. Additionally, Judge Groves found RTA’s fare enforcement practice of demanding passengers to show proof of fare without probable cause of fare evasion unconstitutional.
In May, 2018, Judge Groves received award from the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI). Judge Groves received this award due to her commitment and service to those with mental illness. She has shifted the focus of the mental health docket to personal development and maintenance of mental health of each participant.
Honored to receive the Champion For Justice Award from the National Action Network. Over the last 18 years as judge, Judge Groves has been committed to improving the lives of the people who appear before her and the justice system in which they come through.
Recieved the 2019 Heritage award from The Ohio Young Black Democrats, for her professional and personal contributions in the advancement of the Ohio Young Black Democrats.
